Biography

Chris Dave

Born in Houston, Texas, drummer Chris Dave, also known as Chris “Daddy” Dave, began his music career in the late 1980s. Chris Dave is one of the most revered and in demand musicians of his generation. His eccentric approach to the drum set and his ability to adapt to any musical setting, whether jazz, hip-hop or R&B, has put him in a category of his own.

 

Chris Dave has been around the world and back playing for and recording with some of music’s most established and iconic artists including: Adele, Lady Gaga, Maxwell, D’Angelo, Beyoncé, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Common, Rick Rubin, Talib Kweli, Jill Scott, and A Tribe Called Quest. Chris has also been labeled Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time in addition to both his Grammy Award winning work with The Robert Glasper Experiment and Grammy Award winning work with D’Angelo and The Vanguard for Best R&B Album.

 

With his band, The Drumhedz, he has released two critically acclaimed mixtapes as well as brought the act around the world.  Currently, Chris Dave & The Drumhedz have an upcoming album with artist alliance GLOW365 and Blue Note/Universal.
