Biography

Dolce Wang

Named after a musical term, Dolce Wang spent her youth studying Haydn, Brahms, and Elgar as well as venturing through the Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas. Naturally curious, she wondered what would be at the end of Interstate 10, and followed it west where she found herself at the University of Southern California studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Cinematic Arts. While at USC, Dolce was both an ARCS and WiSE Scholar, conducting research in the Materials Science Department.

Her travels have taken her around the world to Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa, and has won several national and international awards including Disney’s ImagiNations International Design Competition. Fueled by an insatiable interest in the exploration of human story, Dolce now devotes her time to finding innovative ways to incorporate her interdisciplinary background in various fields including film, music, engineering, and theme park design.

Dolce  serves as a guest faculty at CalArts Music-Technology Department, and regularly performs as cellist in the Los Angeles-based rock band, Bonsai Boulevard. In 2016, she made a very successful solo tour in China

Dolce personal music has a beautiful melody, a rich hierarchy, a vivid rhythm, plus the use of circular sampling. This style also comes from her childhood dream when a person plays the voice of a whole band.
