Till Brönner & Abu

Abu

Born in Beijing, A Bu began his classical piano music study at the age of four. He was soon winning awards, and went on to enroll at the Chinese capital’s famous Central Conservatory of Music, recognized as an outstanding talent. But in addition to his classical studies, A Bu was also fascinated by jazz, latin, live improvisation, modern recording and composing techniques. He formed his first jazz trio in 2012, and today, at the age of 17, A Bu has already played with some key names in the international classical and jazz worlds, including Chick Corea, Antonio Hart, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Al Jarreau, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. In 2016, he was invited to the home of Kapustin - the composer who has been a big inspiration to A Bu since childhood; legendary producer Quincy Jones is also a big supporter; and this coming April, A Bu will perform in Havana at the International Jazz Day Global Concert, sharing the stage with, amongst others, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

A Bu has released 2 albums, (via Sennheiser Media) and in-between study and performances, is currently working on new material for his third album, due for release later this year.
